O  n his eighth birthday, Pierre-Luc Gagnon aka PLG, was given his first skateboard. To encourage his son to practice, his father built him a ramp in the backyard. In 1992, his father bought a skatepark and began to enter his son into skateboarding competitions. In 1997, PLG turned pro. At the young age of 22, he was ranked the number two skateboarder in the world. In 2005, Gagnon proved to be one of the best when he ended up in second in the Dew Cup standings. Right before the 2006 X Games, PLG broke his kneecap while skating at Tony Hawk’s house. This caused him to miss two Dew Tour stops. However, an injury didn’t stop Pierre-Luc; He came back in 2007 to get third at the X Games Big Air, and second in Vert. He ended the season ranked third in the AST Dew Tour circuit.
